Guinness Interprovincial Title for Leinster

09/05/02.Leinster collected their second trophy of the season when they defeated Connacht 49-20 at the Sportsground in Galway to claim the Guinness Interprovincial Championship title.

It was their first interpro title since 1998 and they did so in some style, six tries earning a vital bonus point to make sure that Munster hopes of catching them disappeared.

Centre Brian O’Driscoll helped himself to two tries with captain Reggie Corrigan, Simon Keogh and Peter McKenna adding to the tally.
In the closing minutes, Aiden McCullen, who, along with the entire Leinster bench was given a taste of the action, put the gloss on the win with a score under the posts.

Brian O’Meara, showed no ill-effects of being left out of the Ireland squad by scoring 17 points on his way to winning the Man-Of-The-Match award.
