It’s a Munster v Leicester Heineken Cup Final.

Munster will face Leicester in the final of this year’s Heineken Cup after the defending champions pipped Llanelli with an injury time penalty to win 13-12 at the City Ground in Nottingham

Played in dreadful conditions, with the players having to contend with driving rain and hailstones, it was a game that, perhaps not surprisingly, was littered with error and one that Llanelli looked like winning for long periods. They led 9-3 at the break, three Stephen Jones penalties to one from Tim Stimpson before the only try of the game from Tigers’ scrum-half Harry Ellis. Stimpson’s conversion edged the title holders in front (10-9) but Jones struck again to put Lllanelli back in the lead with 27 minutes of normal time. For most of that time Llanelli were forced to defend as Leicester’s formidable pack rumbled forward, denied a breakthrough only by some outstanding defence. Jones saw a long range effort drift narrowly wide and in the closing stages, after Leicester themselves had seen their own line threatened, they were awarded a penalty forty metres out which struck the cross bar and then the upright before plopping over for the heartbreaking score – From a Llanelli point of view.
