Munster Joy at Clohessy Inclusion

The news that Peter Clohessy would be taking his place in the Munster line up against Castres was greeted with discernible joy when Declan Kidney announced his side for the semi final

Speaking at the press conference this afternoon (Friday), Kidney explained that the decision to ‘go with Peter’ wasn’t made till late. “To be honest, it wasn’t made until last night or early this morning really. ” said Kidney and he went on to say that “The decision was made after we confirmed that the medics were entirely happy for Peter to play. There is no question therefore of it being a risk to play him. We wouldn’t ask any player to take such risks. That would be a very irresponsible attitude. The decision was based on rugby matters.”

But the inclusion of the veteran prop certainly gave the squad a boost ahead of their tough assignment in the Stade de la Mediterranee, where they went this afternoon for the traditional walk-around. While they bulk of the squad ambled about Ronan O’Gara and Jeremy Staunton practised their kicking, both players happy with the billard table-like pitch.
