19/04/02.The Munster v Leinster Guinness Interprovincial game ended in a 6-6 draw at a wet and windy Musgrave Park while earlier in the evening Ulster beat Connacht 18-17.

There has been little between Munster and Leinster in the recent past and this game proved no different. In difficult conditions Munster played with the wind in the opening half but only had a Ronan O’Gara penalty to show for their efforts. The half ended with Leinster reduced to 14 after Nathan Spooner had been sin-binned in the second minute of injury time following a dangerous high tackle on Mick Galwey.

The wind freshened in the second half and Leinster drew level when the returned Spooner landed a simple effort from in front of the posts.

Spoonerput them in front with a second penalty in the 57th minute and that stage Leinster looked certain to take full points.

However, Munster put in a marvellous fifteen. They drew level in the 71st minute when Jason Holland, kickking in place of the injured O’Gara, lashed over a 40 metre effort and the same player had the opportunity to snatch victory in the dying minutes but his attempt from 30 metres drifted narrowly wide.
