Barnhall Do Bohs a Favour.

In the AIB League Division Two, Barnhall did UL Bohemians a huge favour when they defeated Old Crescent 32-13 in Parsonstown although the victory wasn’t enough to gain the Bulls promotion.

Barnhall did all that was asked of them against a Crescent who looked well capable of doing the business early on. The Limerick side took the lead with Dathi Fitzgerald penalty in the third minute and added to that with a try from Eugene McGovern. But Barnhall bounced back with a Dan Gilmore try which was converted by Conrad Burke and the out-half added a drop goal – after two failed attempts – to leave the home side 10-8 up at the break. In the second half Barnhall ran the ball at every opportunity and tries from Rhys Jones, Riaan Erasmus, Warwick Bowden and Myles O’Reilly gave them the bonus point. At one stage in the second half they were reduced to thirteen when Burke and Bowden were yellow carded by referee Simon McDowell.

UL Bohemians supporters were given some anxious moments early on before their side ran out convincing 39-17 winners over Midleton in Thomond Park and Belfast Harlequins celebrated their return to Division One with a nine try 59-29 victory over Sunday’s Well in Musgrave Park.

At the bottom of the table there was no reprieve for Wanderers who go down, with City of Derry, following their 41-20 home defeat by Malone.
