Fiona Neary Targets Twickenham

13/03/02.Breaking records and creating history is something that Ireland Womens International Fiona Neary does on a regular basis.

Ireland women’s winger Fiona Neary is only 80 minutes away from making history with a dream appearance at Twickenham.
Neary, a final year medical student at Liverpool University, helped her club Waterloo into the last four of the National Cup with a 17-12 quarter-final victory at English Premiership rivals Lichfield last weekend.

This Sunday, Waterloo meet Nottingham Casuals in the semi-finals with a place in next month’s Twickenham showpiece at stake, with Neary aiming to become the first women’s player raised in Ireland to take the field at the famous home of English rugby.

That would complete a hat-trick of historic appearances this season for the 24-year old, who has 15 caps for her country and is set to play in her second World Cup in Barcelona in May.

Back in September, she was a member of the first ever Ulster women’s team to play at Ravenhill and, last month, was in the Ireland side for the first ever women’s international at Thomond Park.
