Inspired by their Lion, number eight Simon Taylor, Scotland recorded their first championship victory on Italain soil when they defeated the Italians 29-12 in Stadio Flaminio. In a highly competitive game, Taylor was rightly awarded the Lloyds TSB Man of the Match award but must have been run close by centre Bernard Laney who capped a fine game by scoring the final try in injury time.
