Just four points cover the top three sides in Division Three, Trinity and Greystones on 39 points with Old Wesley in third place on 35 and it looks likely that the promotion pair will come from this trio. Connemara are in fourth on 32 with Ballina in fifth with 30 points but a game in hand.

Old Wesley did their promotion prospects no good at all when they were beaten 23-11 on Saturday by Corinthians at Donnybrook. It surely was a game that Wesley coach Jim Lowry had marked down in the must-win category but the home side found Johnny Morrisson in devastating form, he kicked all his side’s points including a hat trick of tries.Old Wesley next game is a difficult away one in Clonakilty followed by the visit to Donnybrook of promotion chasing Greystones. Lowry’s side then travel north to Banbridge before ending with a home match against Monkstown. It’s a tough ending schedule while Greystones and Trinity have marginally easier programmes.

Of their four remaining games, ‘Stones have two at home while Trinity end with Suttonians (away), Ballina (home), Bangor (away) and finally Naas in Fournaughts.
