Squad Session Gets Under way

Thirty of the forty three squad members took a full part in the opening day of the national squad’s five day get-together in Limerick yesterday.

Thirty of the forty three squad members took a full part in the opening day of the national squad’s five day get-together in Limerick yesterday under the supervision of the new coaching team of Eddie O’Sullivan, Declan Kidney and Niall O’Donovan Five players did not attend because of injury. They were, Reggie Corrigan (strained ankle ligaments), Anthony Horgan (shoulder), Shane Horgan (ribs), Malcolm O’Kelly (cheekbone/eye socket), and Brian O’Meara (knee ligaments). O’Kelly hpoes to join the squad tomorrow (Wed).

Brian O’Driscoll (dead leg), Girvan Dempsey (hamstring), Jonny Bell (dead leg), Gordon D’Arcy (shoulder), Paul Wallace (neck and hand), Victor Costello (knee), Keith Wood and Peter Stringer, didn’t take any part in the session although encouragingly, Wood took a few throws while Stringer a little runnning as he strives to recover from a damaged ankle.

The session in Thomond Park this afternoon(starting at 3 p.m.) will be open to the public.
