Leinster’s marvellous unbeaten run came to a crushing end when they were beaten 43-7 by Toulouse at the Stade des Sept Deniers.

Leinster put in a gutsy and committed first half display to trail by just three (3-0) points at the break and looked ideally placed to set up a home quarter final tie.

They came out in the second half in positive mode and took the game to the home side but then it turned against them and the first try from Finau Maka opened the fllodgates.

What followed was stunning in it’s execution and impact. In the space of 20 minutes Toulouse scored 33 points that included a hat-trick of tries from Cedric Heymans. In face of that type of onslaught there was nothing Leinster could do. Replacement Michel Marfaing and Emile N’Tamack added further tries and there was a consolation try from Victor Costello which Brian O’Meara converted to leave Leinster facing the prospect of a trip to Welford Road in the quarters.
