Going into the final series of Pool matches this weekend both sides entertained realistic chances of secring that all important home venue for the quarters. But, as things turned out they both now face daunting tasks in a fortnight’s time.

The try scored in the seventh minute of injury time by Olivier Sarramea could prove extremy costly to Munster who had a home tie snatched from their grasp while Leinster’s second half capitulation against Toulouse leaves them with an equally difficult assignment against title holders Leicester.

The loss of key players like Malcolm O’Kelly and Nathan Spooner and the vagaries of the weather, in the end took it’s toll on Leinster who must now try and pick themselves up for the next round.

Bath as top seed must be strong favourites to advance to the semi-final with home advantage over LLanelli while Castres will be home to Montferrand.
