Cup holders Terenure College were unceremoniously dumped out of the Leinster Senior Cup when they were beaten 46-7 by Lansdowne at Lakelands Park.

Former Greystones flyer, Fiachra Baynes, was Lansdowne’s leading scorer with a hat-trick of tries. Veteran prop Angus McKeen scored a brace of tries and another ‘veteran’, Alan McGowan scored a try, kicked five conversions and two penalties to wind up with a pesonal tally of 21 points.

And further south, in Oak Park, Terenure’s Dublin 6 neighbours St Marys College, were also shown the exit door from the competition. Co Carlow, who have made such a good start to life in the highest echelon were comfortable 30-15 victors with tries from Padraig Brennan, Matt Spiller, David Cox and Mark Buckley with Matt Waterhouse landing two conversions and two penalties.

Co Carlow now meet Bective Rangers in Saturday’s semi-final while last year’s beaten finalists Clontarf will play Lansdowne.
