New Provincial Development Manager for Ulster

The IRFU has appointed Alistair Brown as the Provincial Development Manager (PDM) for the Ulster Branch.

The IRFU has appointed Alistair Brown as the Provincial Development Manager (PDM) for the Ulster Branch. The importance of support for the development of rugby talent in Ulster can not be over-emphasised despite the recent
success of Ulster, the three other Irish and the Irish national team.

Brown, who previously worked in farming and the bank, will aim to promote and develop youth and schools rugby. He will be aiming to ensure effective management of the three Regional Development Officers (RDOs) and the youth development officers. Alistair’s role as PDM will involve overseeing three areas.

1. Promotion and Participation;

2. Performance;

3. Improvement.

Furthermore, Alistair explained “it’s vital to get young people started in the game, get them playing in leagues and cups, and then to develop their skills and abilities. The purpose of the elite development programme is to quickly develop the best talent available in Ulster and, consequently, my role will dovetail closely with that of the Director of Elite Player Development, Allen Clarke.”
