Success in the Ulster Bank All-Ireland Junior Cup has often been a precusor for clubs with ambitions of gaining league status, and while Monivea lost out in the final to Tullamore that did not deter Armagh who lost to City of Derry previously.
The Galway club beat Richmond but then lost to Clogher Valley in the Round Robin series to day. However, a try-scoring bonus point and a losing bonus point sees them second in the table.
A win for Skerries will see them promoted to the Ulster Bank League, while Monivea could be left in third place if Clogher Valley, who retained their Provincial Towns Cup title last Monday, can win in Richmond.
That would see the Tyrone outfit set up a play-off against either Ards or Wanderers for a place in the Ulster Bank League next season.
