Even with weather dropping its promise of sunshine from time to time, the show went on as two groups contested the trophies on offer that day.
After group games taking place between 1.45pm and 3.55pm, the two leagues of teams finished as follows:-
1st - Mengal Taggers
2nd - The Tubbies
3rd - The Crew
4th - Bee Taggers
5th - KPMG Taggers
1st - The Misfits
2nd - Tag Protestors
3rd - Galmen Taggers
4th - Bee Tiggers
5th - Beaches Be Trippin
First of all, the Spirit of Tag trophy final kicked off the playoff stages with KPMG Taggers defeating Beaches Be Trippin'. In the true spirit of the game, the winners were unable to to collect their silverware so it went to the losing side, who promptly forgot to take it! We'll call that one a draw...
The Spoon Final saw the crunch 'derby' between Bee Taggers and Bee Tiggers end up with the Tiggers as victors over the other half of their player pool. As predicted, or a shot in the dark? We'll never know. The Bowl Final saw Galmen Taggers outscore The Crew 6-2 while Tag Protestors fresh from their weekend of Beach Tag in Strandhill defeated The Tubbies for the Plate. For Coupe des Coupes, (that's Cup Final to you or ourselves), Mengal Taggers lost out to The Misfits on the fine sand 3-1.
Afterwards back at The Anchor again, trophies were presented and the 'Apres-Tag' then well and truly began as the DJ took to his booth.
Many thanks to each and every player, supporter, the Anchor, all the National Trust staff who helped out and in particular, all our referees. You are the reason that events like these are such a success each year.
The next and final Beach Tag event of the year takes place at the beautiful Curracloe Beach, Co.Wexford on Saturday July 27th. Registrations are currently live and for any queries, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
