A STRONG-RUNNING back rower who relishes a big hit ,Ferris made his Test debut against the Pacific Islanders in November 2006. A series of injuries checked his progress somewhat after that before he impressed again during the Guinness Series 2008.
The Armagh man kept his place throughout the 2009 RBS Six Nations despite stiff competition for places in Ireland’s back-row and was arguably Ireland’s most impressive performer during their victorious Grand Slam run, bringing great physicality, a huge work ethic and an imposing presence to the side.
Earned a Lions call up on the back of his stunning 2009 displays but a knee injury ruled him out of Test contention against the Springboks.
