Rhys Ruddock, the son of former Leinster and Wales coach Mike Ruddock, declared for Ireland, his mother's home and his country of birth, having represented Wales at U-18 Level.
He made his debut for the Ireland U-20s in 2009 and played alongside older brother Ciaran in the team.
A member of the Leinster academy he has been named in the full Leinster squad for the 2010/11 season having made a few appearences for them this year.
He captained the Ireland U-20s in the 09/10 season and led them to a Championship with wins over England, Wales, Italy and Scotland.
On tour at the Junior World Championship in Argentina he was called up to the senior squad in New Zealand and lined out against the New Zealand Maori.
