Skill: Running into space

Set Up

Player "X" runs across the grid from side to side. Player "A" throws a pass from the marker into the grid for "B" to run onto, while finding a space to move through. Player "B" then passes to "C" & repeats.

Running into space

Key Factors:

  • Striker (Player B) should use peripheral vision to find the space.
  • Striker should change pace & angle.

The pass in to the striker should be sympathetic.

Overload:

  • Place the passing point closer to the running channel of player "X". Have player "X" run faster. Use 2-3 runners X, Y, & Z- wider channel i.e. 10m wide. Change angle of run by striker. Use 2players A & B running & passing down the channel.

Groups:

Minimum of 3 players; ideally 5 or more.
