Venue History
When France was chosen as the host of the 1998 Football World Cup it needed a brand new stadium in Paris to host matches, including the final. This became the Stade de France. Located in Saint Denis, a northern suburb of Paris, the Stade de France is a familiar sight to regular travellers on Eurostar with its distinctive roof and superb architecture.

It is a multi-purpose stadium and hosts rugby matches, including the 2007 Rugby World Cup final and several spectacular Stade Francais matches, football matches, athletics meetings such as the 2003 World Championships and regular concerts.

The Champions League final has twice been held at the Stade de France although the Heineken Cup has not, as yet, taken its showpiece occasion to the venue.
