Venue History
Home to the Scottish Rugby Union and Edinburgh Rugby, Murrayfield lies 2½ miles from the city centre. Perhaps the ground's most famous moment in recent history was the Scottish Grand Slam of 1990 when the crowd, inspired by team captain David Sole, psyched the English out of the contest, although the visitors had some revenge in the 1991 World Cup semi-final, also held at the ground.

Redeveloped in the 1990s, Murrayfield now has a capacity of 67,500 and hosted the 2005 Heineken Cup final. Murrayfield takes its name from the Murray family - Sir Andrew de Moray was a companion to William Wallace - and there has been a rugby ground on the site since the SRU was inaugurated there in 1925.

The first match was against England and was won by the Scots 14-11. Tours of Murrayfield are available.
