Introduction Travel Accommodation Did you know?
With its castle and Arthur's Seat dominating the skyline every time you lift your eyes, you always know you're in Edinburgh when you're there. But for all its ten centuries of history Scotland's capital is as well known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere and seemingly never-ending roster of festivals that bring the cream of global talent to the city.

This is city which can be enjoyed quite literally by everyone, from art lovers to students to rugby fans (of course!). "The Athens of the North" has a modern feel typified by the recent addition of the Scottish Parliament building, one of many striking pieces of architecture within Edinburgh.

And the narrow ancient streets are a foil for the broad thoroughfares of the New Town. But Edinburgh's vibrancy comes from the people, a mix of locals, tourists and students that ensures that the atmosphere is always buzzing.
