Prop Cian Healy is expected to miss the start of the 2014 RBS 6 Nations after undergoing surgery on his injured ankle on Wednesday.
Ryan strained ligaments in his left knee and will be out of consideration for approximately ten weeks after seeing a specialist.
That means the 29-year-old will be sidelined for Ireland's upcoming November Tests against Samoa, Australia and New Zealand, and he will be out of Munster's plans until late December-early January.
Meanwhile, full-back/winger Hurley, who suffered medial ligament damage in his knee, has been ruled out for approximately five weeks.
