Prior to his departure for Ireland's summer tour, Robbie Diack joined Roger Wilson and Ruan Pienaar to support the camps with Kaitlin Gilliland and Charlotte Smiley from Downshire School, Carrickfergus
Ulster heroes Ruan Pienaar, Roger Wilson, and Robbie Diack teamed up with independent retail group Centra recently to launch a series of Ulster Rugby Summer Camps tailored especially for girls with an interest in the game.
Due to the growing popularity of girls' youth rugby, Ulster Rugby has added an additional camp this year, and organized four Girls camps to take place during July and August in City of Derry RFC, Clogher Valley RFC in Fermanagh, Lurgan RFC and Malone RFC in Belfast.
The Girls camps will take place over three days and no prior experience of the game is necessary. The aim of the camps will be to introduce and develop key rugby skills in a fun and safe environment, under the watchful eyes of qualified and experienced coaches.
At a cost of £30, the participants will not only receive a full coaching programme delivered by Ulster Rugby coaches, but will also take away an Ulster Rugby T-shirt, rugby ball and boot-bag, as well as a ticket voucher for an Ulster match at Ravenhill.
Zoe Templeton, Female Rugby Officer at Ulster Rugby, commented: "We want to give as many young girls as possible the chance to try rugby. Women's rugby has been thrust into the spotlight, with the success of the Ireland Women's squad winning the Six Nations Grand Slam last year.
"Fourteen Women's and Girls' teams started up last year at club level and we'd love that figure to keep on growing."
Nikki McDowell,Centra Brand Manager, added: "Centra and its independent retail partners across Northern Ireland proudly support the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, because they provide a great opportunity for young people to learn new skills, enjoy some exercise and have fun during the summer holidays.
"The Girls Camps allow even more young people to experience the summer camps and enjoy grass roots rugby."
Ireland international Iain Henderson will start at lock for Ulster for the first time this season, following his appearance in the back row last weekend. He will combine with fellow Ireland international Dan Tuohy in the second row for Friday's GUINNESS PRO12 derby encounter with Leinster at the RDS (kick-off 7.35pm).
Connacht Rugby and the IRFU are pleased to announce the extended contract of Ireland international Kieran Marmion. The 23-year-old, who was first capped for Ireland in the summer of 2014, has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract with Connacht Rugby.
