The Summer of Sport initiative will give young people the opportunity to play soccer, tag rugby and basketball in a fun environment. It will run during the month of June at 4 venues across the City - Cabra, Ringsend, Crumlin and Ballymun.
The format on the night will allow each team to play twenty minutes of one sport and then rotate to sample the other two sports.
Each team will consist of three players and all games will last for three minutes. The rationale for Dublin City Council to lead a multi sport initiative " Summer of Sport" is to allow young people to experience sport in a non-competitive, fun and simplified rules fashion.
This initiative is about encouraging young people to become physically active in short sharp bursts of sport while showcasing three major team sports to those who take part. The three a side nature of the game allows friends to make up their own team which re-creates the old Dublin City model of street teams. Each sport will follow the guidelines outlined below.
