Ireland's John Lacey will referee his first ever RBS 6 Nations match in February, while Alain Rolland is also included in the Elite Panel in what is his last season.
The 37-year-old former Wolves player has signed a three-year contract with Munster and is already working with the province's squad as they get through their pre-season work.
Darbyshire said of the move: "It's a fantastic opportunity. Munster are one of the biggest sides in Europe. It's something I can't wait to get to grips with."
The Wigan native played for Western Suburbs in Australia in the 1990s, and has plenty of union experience, having played for Orrell and provided coaching in recent seasons for Broughton Park and Waterloo.
