The Irish Rugby Supporters Club is delighted to announce that tickets for the GUINNESS Series 2013 will go on sale on ticketmaster.ie at 10am on Thursday, May 30.
"For the ex-pat, Overseas Membership is a statement that you never really left the club and that any time you are back, you're always welcome to shimmy up to the bar or the fireplace," he said.
"That's a feeling you can't get just by checking in to the website."
Skerries are currently challenging for the Leinster League Division 1A title and a return to the Ulster Bank League, but the north County Dublin club has always relied on community spirit.
Murray added: "Everyone that has come through the club over the years it has such great memories there, whether it was the team-mates you lined up with, matches played, matches watched or just the social aspect of the club.
"Creating an Overseas Membership category is a tremendous recognition of the role that past players had in the club, a form of living history, as it were."
The membership is set at just €50, and the club's President Nick Heeney says that it is particularly important to offer that connection now.
"Over the past number of years we have seen several of our players and supporters leave for pastures new. We'd like to reconnect with all these people and involve them in our club," he said.
The club's website has already helped update ex-pats on the latest news, and its Facebook page even given live coverage of matches through pictures and commentary.
With players such as former Connacht player David Hewitt and Ireland 'A' international Chris Keane bringing exciting rugby to Holmpatrick, Skerries is hoping that the Overseas Membership will help it thrive off the pitch.
"Over time it will be interesting to see how it leads to old friendships being renewed, so that the latest generation of Skerries Goats can see the length and breadth of the club's roots throughout the world," concluded Murray.
