Monteferrand opened the scoring with a penalty early in the first half, which was soon negated by a Brian O' Meara penalty after five minutes to bring the score to 3-3.
Again in the second half, all the points were scored from penalty kicks, with Leinster and Monteferrand trading points until Leinster emerged victors on a scoreline of 12-9. Leinster remain top of their group, undefeated to date in their Heineken Cup campaign.
In other action tonight, a late try from USA international backrower Dave Hodges gave Llanelli a 17-12 victory over Sharks in a tense and often bad-tempered Heineken Cup pool encounter at Stradey Park. Glasgow also secured a win over Bourgoin with a mere one point margin at Hughenden. (source planetrugby.com)
