In Ireland, Leprechaun Rugby was pioneered by former Ireland captain Willie Anderson when he was Rugby Development Manager for the IRFU from 1988 to 1994 and by the late Jimmy Davidson, who coached Ireland from 1987 to 1990.
The non-tackling, soft-contact nature of Leprechaun Rugby allows it to be played by males and females as a mixed activity, irrespective of size, age or ability.
Leprechaun Rugby aims to encourage the positive development of running, balancing and handling skills.
The new Leprechaun Rugby booklet has been updated and is now available for download.
Coaches, teachers and parents can download the Leprechaun Rugby booklet from our Play Rugby website. The booklet includes everything you need to know to about this form of rugby, including introducing children to the ethos of rugby union.
