David Humphreys is set to create a new Irish record for appearances at out-half - a record held by fellow Ulsterman, the legendary Jack Kyle - if he is named at out-half for Ireland when the side is announced later today. The indications are that coach Eddie O'Sullivan will use this opportunity to rest some players in order to look at other combinations, and that being the case then Humphreys will win a record 47th cap for his country. Jack Kyle amassed his total (46) from 1947 to 1957 while Humphreys won his first cap in 1996.

The question of who will lead the side is not clear with Brian O'Driscoll recalled to the side because of the injury to John Kelly but it must be assumed that O'Driscoll will not start the game and Humphreys is certainly likely to lead the field onto the Lansdowne Road pitch on this auspicious occasion.
