The Cork Constitution Under-11 team, on April 24, had the honour of representing the club in a half-time fixture with UL Bohs at the Munster v Ospreys Mangers League match.

Cork Con have created its own history in the old Thomond winning numerous cups over the year but theU-11 players also made club history as they were the first team from Con to play at the new Thomond Park.

The twelve players that represented the club were: Adam O'Connor. Ben Roche, Daniel O'Connor, David Good, David Harrington, David Hyland, David Murray, Eoin Monahan, Jack O'Riordan, Joe Duggan, Peter Humphries and Max Walsh.

Gerry O'Leary also travelled but was unable to play on account of a broken arm. Niall Murray and Tony O'Connor were the two coaches on hand, from the eight coaches at this grade.

The Con youngsters used the dressing room of the Munster 'A' side which Constitution's very own Peter O'Mahony captained to victory over Ulster in the opening match that evening. Before the mini game, the Under-11s watched Munster play the Ospreys.

Cork Con and UL Bohs took to the pitch at half-time with Con taking tip off and due to great defence from UL Bohs they kept them at bay. When the ball went to UL Bohs, Con's defence was unbelievable.

The remainder of the game saw some incredible defending by both teams who revelled in playing under floodlights in front of the large and appreciative crowd. When the final whistle blew, there was no score which was a fitting result.

The Con lads made their way back to Cork after an amazing night. It was a great day with lots of memories of the first time to play at the new Thomond, 'the first of many' as declared by David Good, with that type of attitude in Cork Con's young players, the future of the club is in safe hands.
