The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is the governing body of the sport in Ireland. It is dedicated to the development, growth and success of rugby football in Ireland and has over 300 technical, professional rugby-playing and support staff. The IRFU is seeking to appoint a Director of Medical Services (part-time) who will manage the medical services for the IRFU providing advice, guidance and leadership on all medical issues.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and the IRFU Medical Committee, the Director of Medical Services will operate at the cutting-edge of professional sport in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering on medical and related plans ensuring effective, efficient and successful implementation of medical policy. The main areas of accountability will be:

*Medical Standards - ensuring medical personnel implement the highest possible medical and ethical standards in all aspects of work.

*Medical Policy - ensuring full, proper and effective implementation of IRFU medical policy through development of best practice medical management procedures.

*Finance - planning and reporting on current and forecast medical budgets detailing analysis of current and expected expenditure.

*Injury Prevention / Rehabilitation - designing and implementing high quality and robust injury prevention and rehabilitation processes.

*Medical Appointments - coordinating the appointment of medical personnel employed in the IRFU.

*Medical Research - coordinating a range of injury and rehabilitation research projects.

*Anti Doping Policy - ensuring International Rugby Board and related associations / bodies' anti-doping and substance abuse policies are properly adopted by the IRFU.
