The Ireland Under-19 squad to face Australia Schools at Ravenhill on Saturday week (December 14) has been announced.
The jersey will be worn by Ireland for the first time when they run out to play Italy atn the Stadio Flaminio, and the replica jerseys will be available for Irish fans to buy from Thursday, 3rd February.
The new home jersey remains predominantly green, but features white under-arm and side panels, whilst the two white hoops on the sleeve have been removed.
For the first time ever, Irish rugby fans will have a choice of three different types of Ireland home jersey. The traditional Canterbury Classic loop-neck' poly-cotton jersey with a standard fit will continue to be available; a new Canterbury armourfit-pro' jersey is introduced, which is polyester rich with a more contemporary fit designed to appeal to younger fans; and the Canterbury armourfit-test' - the authentic playing jersey made from Canterbury's Temex fabric and worn by the national team will also be available to fans. All three jerseys have the same new colour design.
Padraig Power, Commercial and Marketing Director, IRFU commented: ''This is the first change to our home jersey for three years. The recent change to the alternate jersey has proved extremely popular amongst supporters and we are confident that the new design of the home jersey will prove even more popular.''
Craig Vartan, Product Manager, Canterbury Europe said: "We're excited to be able to present the Irish rugby consumer with a wider choice of jerseys. Our ability to offer fans different types of jersey fabrics and fits is a great reflection on the growth of the game in general and the support there is for the Irish team at present.''
