The top four at the start of the day, Dolphin, Thomond, Old Crescent and De La Salle Palmerston all retained their positions although Crescent were held to a 9-9 draw by UCC at The Mardyke. Young Munster, 5th at the start of the afternoon, slipped two places after they suffered a 17-15 defeat at the hands of Bective Rangers in Donnybrook. DLSP beat Malone, 18-5 in Belfast and Portadown swopped places with Greystones at the bottom of the table by virtue of their 28-22 win over the Co Wicklow club in Chambers Park.
In Division Three, the placings of the top five remain unchanged, even though, two of the quintet, Wanderers and Corinthians were beaten. Wanderers lost 18-15 in Highfield, while Corinthian went down 18-13 to Skerries in Holmpatrick.
Leaders Waterpark had a good 36-12 win over Queens University in Belfast. Instonians scored 29 points without reply at home to Monkstown who now look certain of relegation particularly as the team just above them, Naas, recorded an impressive 32-13 home win over Clonakilty. Suttonians moved a step further away from the relegation zone after their 19-12 home win over Connemara.
