DHL Global Forwarding has renewed their sponsorship of the Exiles Sevens squad for another season. Public Affairs manager Penny Darnbrook sees the popular spread of Sevens as a global game following the same pathway as DHL, a global business. DHL and the Exiles Branch share the same vision the development of future generations'. In the case of the Exiles this is the development of Irish-qualified rugby players for the future of Irish rugby.
The Exiles view the Sevens game as a pathway for young players to hone their skill set. During the summer months young Exiles, who have been capped by Ireland at U18, U19 and U21 levels, have all featured in the Exiles Sevens squad.
This Sevens initiative is only made possible by the sponsorship of main sponsor DHL and kit sponsors OB Sport.
DHL and the Branch Hon. Secretary Ces Shaw have been in regular discussion during the summer as the company monitored their first season of sponsorship. At a recent meeting between Penny Darnbrook and the Branch Secretary DHL announced they were very happy with their sponsorship of the Exiles Seven and would be continuing for another season.
This decision was welcomed by the Exiles IRFU Representative, former Irish International Feidlim MacLoughlin, who expressed the Exiles appreciation of DHL's support.
Now the Exiles have to plan their Sevens season as invitations come in from Ireland, Italy, Budapest, Kenya and the major Sevens tournaments in England.
