Jaco Pretorius, one of two debutant wingers that South Africa fielded, is caught by Irish try scorer Andrew Trimble. The 22-year-old Trimble dotted down his fifth try in 10 Test appearances in the first half.
Springbok newcomer Francois Steyn is brought to ground by Ireland's Denis Leamy. Steyn, at just 19, was one of the visitors' best players on the day and he collected a deserved try 15 minutes from time.
Ireland's Paul O'Connell stops South African prop CJ van der Linde in his tracks. The 26-year-old van der Linde, who plays for the Cheetahs, emerged as the 'Boks' first choice tighthead during this year's Tri-Nations tournament.
Ronan O'Gara and Gordon D'Arcy get to grips with South African scrum half Ricky Januarie. Munster out-half O'Gara, Ireland's record points scorer, took his international tally to 649 points by kicking three conversions and two penalties against the Springboks.
Ireland's Geordan Murphy tries to shrug off the challenge of South African full-back Bevin Fortuin. The 28-year-old Murphy came off the bench, during the second half, to replace Andrew Trimble and win his 43rd cap.
Former South African Player of the Year Bryan Habana shows his delight as he scores the 'Boks' second try and his 17th touchdown in 23 Test matches. However the Bulls speedster was largely anonymous at Lansdowne Road, playing out of position at outside centre.
Shane Horgan celebrates scoring Ireland's fourth try by throwing the ball into the North Terrace. It was the big Leinster man's 17th try for his country - he should earn his 50th Test cap against Australia next Sunday.
Horgan, 28, has been a consistent scorer for both province and country in 2006. The 6ft 4in winger/centre has now scored four tries this year for Ireland in nine outings. As well as scoring against Glasgow, Bath (2) and Toulouse in last season's Heineken Cup, he has tallied up three tries in his four appearances for Leinster so far this season - against Connacht, Munster and Gloucester.
Munster lock Donncha O'Callaghan, who has now started Ireland's last four Tests, congratulates Horgan on his late try. 17 of O'Callaghan's 28 Irish caps have come as a replacement.
New Zealand referee Paul Honiss nearly gets himself pulled into a fight which broke out late in the game at Lansdowne Road. Honiss has been something of a 'lucky charm' for Irish rugby as of the eight Test matches that he has refereed involving Ireland, the men in green have triumphed in seven! The only defeat came in last February's RBS 6 Nations trip to France.
The Lansdowne Road scoreboard bears the full-time score, confirming only Ireland's third win over South Africa in 18 Test match meetings. The Irish have now won two, drawn one and lost two of their home encounters with the 'Boks since 1965.
