Full-back Bevin Fortuin and wingers Jaco Pretorius and Francois Steyn will all make their Test debuts for South Africa in Saturday's encounter with Ireland (Lansdowne Road, kick-off 5pm).

The trio will link up in what is the most inexperienced back line the Springboks have fielded since the Bloemfontein Test against Ireland in June 2004. The back division that coach Jake White has chosen for the weekend boasts only 79 caps, compared to the Irish backs' collection of 345 caps.

In total, White has made eleven changes to the side that beat Australia 24-16 at Ellis Park in the 'Boks' final Tri-Nations game in September. Only centre Jean de Villiers, out-half Andre Pretorius, hooker and captain John Smit and number 8 Pierre Spies have survived, with many of the frontliners being left at home to rest up and prepare for the World Cup.

South African team manager Zola Yeye said of the debutants: "As we prepare for France 2007, we want to make sure that we have the necessary depth to provide ourselves with as many options as possible.

"The three new players represent that vision. I wish them and all the others selected for the game good luck. We are confident that they will represent the country with pride."

The 'Boks squad will wear green jerseys with white collars, blue shorts and blue socks at Lansdowne Road to honour their 1906 team, who were the first from South Africa to tour overseas.

Saturday's Test will be the tenth played between the nations at Lansdowne Road - the 'Boks have won six so far, Ireland two and there was also one draw in 1970.
