Tries from half-backs Fiach O'Loughlin and Peter O'Brien (2), and another from prop and last year's captain Johnny Wickham saw 'Tarf move up to seventh in the table. UCD, on the other hand, are second-from-bottom after slipping to their third defeat.



Clontarf's inside centre Niall McNamara tries to muscle his way through the UCD defence. McNamara, who was partnered by regular full-back Darragh O'Shea in the 'Tarf midfield, with Marc Hewitt unavailable, was a tower of strength throughout and helped to set up two of the north Dubliners' four tries.



UCD flanker Kevin Croke claims a lineout under pressure from Clontarf duo Martin Garvey and Alan Trenier. Croke captained UCD last season and was part of the Irish squad for last March's AIB Club International against Scotland.



Clontarf's Max Rantz-McDonald tries to slip past the challenge of UCD winger David Nyhan, who captained 'College's Under-20s throughout last season.



Clontarf scrum half Fiach O'Loughlin, who is captain of the Castle Avenue outfit despite this being only his second year at the club, gets over for a first half try. O'Loughlin could pick up his second winners' medal with 'Tarf on Sunday when they attempt to retain the Leddin Finance Leinster Senior Cup against Old Belvedere (Donnybrook, kick-off 2.30pm).



Johnny Wickham, one of 'Tarf's try scorers on the day steps out of the way of a tackle from UCD's Louis Burke. Wickham, 23, is currently on a Development contract with Leinster and played in the 58-9 win for Leinster 'A' over the Sale Jets last Monday at Edgeley Park - it was his tenth cap for Leinster's 'A' team.



Clontarf's Alan Trenier is felled by UCD's young out-half Ian Keatley, who is a member of the Leinster Academy. He made his first appearance for Leinster 'A' this week in their heavy defeat of the Sale Jets.



Irish international hooker Bernard Jackman fends off Keatley with a hand-off at Castle Avenue. The 30-year-old Jackman also lined out for Leinster 'A' against the Sale Jets - during his spell in England, he made 12 apperances for the Sale Sharks, with whom he won a European Shield medal in 2002.



Clontarf centre Darragh O'Shea has his progress halted by UCD midfielder Fergus McFadden. O'Shea kicked two conversions and a penalty in 'Tarf's 27-6 win to take his scoring tally for the league campaign to 21 points in four games.



Lock Martin Garvey, the former Dublin University player, gets a faceful of fingers as he leads a 'Tarf attack.
