Ireland's John Lacey will referee his first ever RBS 6 Nations match in February, while Alain Rolland is also included in the Elite Panel in what is his last season.
Along with Leinster Rugby, a number of AIB League clubs have been allocated grants under the 2006 Sports Capital Programme. The following is the list of rugby-related grantees.
CORK CONSTITUTION FOOTBALL CLUB - 400,000 - Replacement of existing pitch with all-weather playing surface and associated works and upgrading of existing floodlights.
CORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY - 400,000 - For changing room and and shower facilities for 70 sports teams affiliated to various codes in the college and up to 30 outside clubs and schools which avail of the facilities.
COUNTY CARLOW RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB - 50,000 - Installation of floodlighting.
GARRYOWEN FOOTBALL CLUB - 150,000 - Refurbishment of dressing rooms and showers including area for ladies players; pitch development; security fencing due to threat of vandalism; ungrade of floodlighting to match standard.
LEINSTER RUGBY - 80,000 - Upgrade the floodlighting of the back pitch at Donnybrook from training lights to match-playing lights. The main pitch has match-playing lights. It is very important that junior and schools rugby have the facility to play midweek matches under lights.
ROYAL DUBLIN SOCIETY (RDS) - 1,000,000 - To develop the Showjumping arena into a regional sports facility also covering rugby, and specifically as a venue for the Leinster rugby team. Critical to the redevelopment is the resurfacing of the main arena, installation of floodlights and the construction of 9,189 covered seats - resulting in a capacity of 15,200.
SHANNON RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB - 275,000 - Raising of the bottom pitch so it can be used all year round (238,000), floodlighting for this and main pitch, extending of dressing rooms (two more) for 97,000 and purchase of two portacabins to provide meeting rooms and a kitchen area (the old ones are being converted to dressing rooms).
ST. MARY'S COLLEGE RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB - 225,000 - Extension to and modification of existing clubhouse. A new gym, medical room and dressing rooms/showers will be in the extension. This will allow additional dressing rooms/showers/toilets to be provided in the existing clubhouse for the women's team.
UCD SPORTS DEPARTMENT - BELFIELD BOWL - 1,250,000 - Upgrade the Belfield Bowl into a facility for UCD FC and UCD RFC teams. Replacement of grass bank with new stand of 840 seats; modifications to existing stand; new permanent toilets to replace portaloos, new paving, hard standings and disabled access to ground and pitch, associated drainage and site services. Upgrade fencing and relocate existing floodlights from Belfield Park and upgrade.
