Both Shane Horgan and Gordon D'Arcy were quick to acknowledge the efforts of Leinster's pack after Friday night's Magners League win over Munster.

The blue-shirted province are well known for their high quality back line, but having watched their front eight compete and prove more than a match for Munster's forwards at Lansdowne Road, Horgan and D'Arcy were fulsome in their praise.

Reflecting on his try, Horgan modestly admitted: "I think it was just a case of us finishing off some of the great work the forwards did. They were great, they never took a backward step and really put it up to the Munster pack."

D'Arcy added: "There's always talk about this back line in Leinster but us backs just take our hats off to the forwards. You can't single any one player out in the forwards because it was a real eight and then they guys who came on. They all did their bit and it made a real difference.

"It was an absolutely awesome effort to put it up to a pack of the calibre of Munster."

Despite losing two players - prop Ronan McCormack and out-half Felipe Contepomi - to the sin-bin inside the first quarter, Leinster coach Michael Cheika was still relatively pleased with his side's level of discipline.

The Australian said: "I don't think there are any question marks about our discipline. Nothing spilled over and there was no craziness. There were moments in the game when it certainly got hot, but it was dealt with and we got on with our business and went on to win the game.

"I wouldn't say I was ecstatic to lose two players to the bin in the first 20 minutes but, as with any derby match, there was a lot of tension and a lot of pressure and I thought everyone handled themselves pretty well."
