Rugby World Cup - Impact Programme

No ALT tag specified

September 19th sees the eagerly anticipated commencement of Rugby World Cup 2015 (RWC15) and we know that clubs are getting ready to stand #ShoulderToShoulder with the Ireland team.

For the players the Rugby World Cup is a huge opportunity to display their talent and passion for rugby.

For clubs like yours, and the game in general, the Rugby World Cup provides a huge opportunity to engage with our communities.

To assist clubs in reaching out to their communities, the IRFU are engaging in a numbers of support initiatives with clubs, including Rugby World Cup impact workshops (dates below), a series of mini-blitzes and a RWC 15 promotional pack partnership with DHL that will be sent to each club in September.

Club As A Hub

Is your club interested in recruiting more volunteers to spread the legacy of the Rugby World Cup? If so, why not get involved in the 'Club as a Hub' RWC project?

In order to ensure continued engagement in the community in the weeks and months following the tournament a 'Youth Ambassadors' Programme will be activated through IRFU.

The 'YA programme', consists of a panel of 'youth volunteers' who will work with clubs to run 'Club as a Hub' activities throughout the 2015-16 season.

The aim of the project is to recruit enthusiastic youth volunteers to increase participation in local rugby clubs across the country. Working closely with a club mentor the Youth Ambassador will lead a series of social rugby events across a variety of age groups. They will facilitate your club to engage with the local community with a view to gaining additional members (players and volunteers), some who are new to the game and some who may be returning, former members.
