The Irish Rugby Football Union is pleased to announce that they have appointed Dave Clark as the new Head of Fitness to oversee all areas of elite performance in professional and representative teams.

There are less than 24 hours to the start of the IRFU Sports Medicine Conference (sponsored by AON) and Satellite Events, final preparations are being made for the biggest rugby union event on the island of Ireland over the coming days (ahem)!

Jennifer Murphy made her debut for Ireland in the 2012 Women's Six Nations. She is now concentrating her efforts as part of a new training programme for Women's Sevens. We spoke to her this week about the transition from GAA and soccer to rugby and the approach to the Sevens game.

As a result, the underage arm of Buccaneers RFC has been presented with €500 by ESB Athlone manager Sheila Martin as the local winners.

Now Buccs minis are in with a chance of winning the overall national award of a massive €10,000. And to do this, they need your votes!

The group or organisation getting the most votes by March 6 wins this super award, a prize that the young Buccaneers players and their mentors could really do with.

With up to 400 youngsters training and playing regularly at Dubarry Park, it costs a mint to provide the necessary kit and facilities despite a huge voluntary input. So, the €10,000 would certainly be put to good use for these players who are the future of the club.
