In Galway, OLBC produced a hugely impressive effort to almost cause an upset against Kanturk. A crucial second half try and a last-gasp tackle in the closing stages were enough for the visitors to win 13-7 in an entertaining contest.
Sean Cremin's second half try proved the difference for Kanturk and Stephen McAuliffe added a key penalty too, while Kealan Buckley notched an excellent try in the first half.
In that first half, Ger Fahey touched down for OLBC after great work from the home pack. Ultimately however, it proved to be a desperately disappointing afternoon for the Galway side after a strong effort.
On the Aviva Stadium's back pitch, Wanderers had to come from behind to beat Clogher Valley by a 21-7 margin.
Two Peter Brougham penalties had the Dubliners leading 6-0 at the break, but a converted try just after half-time turned the tide towards the Ulster champions.
Brougham's try and a subsequent converted try and penalty sealed a 14-point victory and made sure Valley did not get the losing bonus point either.
The next round of the All-Ireland Provincial League Championship is on Saturday, April 5 with Clogher Valley at home to OLBC in a game where only a win will do for either side to keep alive their hopes of at least finishing second.
In the other round 2 fixture, the result of Kanturk v Wanderers could well decide the automatic promotion place.
Meanwhile, Instonians' loss at home to Sligo in Ulster Bank League Division 2B on Saturday means they are now almost certain to fill the relegation play-off spot where they will host the second-placed side in the qualifiers at Shaw's Bridge.
