New coach Kevin West enjoyed a winning start with the Ireland Women's side as they overcame Italy with a three tries-to-one victory at Ashbourne RFC on Friday night.

Two tries from number 8 Joy Neville, one from debutant winger Alison Miller and seven points from the boot of full-back Niamh Briggs saw Ireland to a comfortable 22-5 win over the Italians.

Next up for Ireland is a trip to France to play the French Women who lost to Scotland at the weekend.
