Our rugby union stars are not the only Irish team to have the Triple Crown in the trophy cabinet - congratulations to the Ireland Wheelchair rugby side who were victorious in the Triple Crown Championships in Bath last weekend.
The victorious Ireland Wheelchair Rugby team celebrate with the Triple Crown trophy in Bath
Over the weekend of December 8 and 9, the four home nations converged in Bath to compete in the annual Wheelchair Rugby Triple Crown Championships. This was in the format of a tournament held over two days in which you played each country once and then you play for your position in the final.
Ireland beat Scotland and Wales on Saturday and then England on Sunday morning. This put the men in green through to the final where they met Scotland for the second time.
Things went to plan in Sunday evening's final. Ireland showed great skill and composure from start to finish and ended up as 39-29 winners.
2007 has been a very successful year for Ireland Wheelchair rugby. The team competed in the European Championships in June, the World Cup in September and now rounding the year off with the Triple Crown title.
This no longer means their union counterparts are the only team holding a Triple Crown - bring on 2008!
