Gavin Duffy
Ballina native GAVIN DUFFY has displayed his versatility by lining out at full back, centre and wing in his seven Ireland caps to date. Off the back of a heartening season with English club NEC Harlequins, Duffy was rewarded last summer with a recall to the Irish squad for the first time in 12 months.
Since then he had added three caps to his tally, two from the summer tour to Argentina and one against Scotland in the recent World Cup warm-up match.
Capped previously at Ireland Schools, Under-21, Sevens and 'A' levels, Duffy joined Harlequins from Connacht in 2003 and his maiden season in London saw him called up for his Ireland senior debut against South Africa (June 2004).
He scored a try on his Six Nations debut against Scotland in February 2005 and two tries in his fourth appearance for Ireland - against Japan in June 2005. A former Mayo Gaelic footballer, Duffy returned to play for Connacht towards the end of last season. He was educated at Roscrea Cistercian College.
